The 2nd International Symposium on Soft Crystals will be held July 12 – 14, 2019 at Raddison Narita in Chiba, JAPAN, as the pre-symposium of the 23rd International Symposium on the Photochemistry and Photophysics of Coordination Compounds (ISPPCC2019) in Hong Kong. The venue, Raddison Narita, is near NARITA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, and this symposium will be programmed so that the ISPPCC participants can participate it.
Recently, various photofunctions, such as organic electroluminescence devices, luminescence probes for bioimaging, solar cells, or photocontrollable magnets, have been developed using metal complexes, supramolecules, and organic-inorganic materials, which have attracted considerable attention. This symposium is an exchange and discussion forum in the field of advanced photofunctional materials, and will cover not only basic photochemical and/or photophysical studies but also photofunctional materials in order to look over hot topics of functional chemistry and give opportunities to harmonize between topics. In particular, this symposium also focuses on a new science concerning "Soft Crystals", which responds to macroscopic gentle stimuli (e.g. vapor exposure, rubbing, and rotation) that exhibit visually remarkable changes such as luminescence and optical properties.
